In the early hours of Monday morning, Emergency Services were called to Blackstock Market, the home of Hot Water Comedy Club, after reports were made just before 03:00.
There were no casualties as a result of the blaze.
In a statement posted to social media, official sources said:
“We are absolutely devastated to confirm that there was a fire on our roof at the @blackstockroofgarden in the early hours of Monday morning.
“Thanks to the fast response of our staff and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, we can confirm that, most importantly, no one was injured.”
The fire was officially extinguished at approximately 04:15, and emergency services left the scene just before 06:30.
The venue went on to confirm that the Rooftop Garden will be closed for the rest of the year.
Hot Water Comedy Club was founded in 2010 and in 2024, relocated to the 60,000 square foot venue, Blackstock Market.
Blackstock Market boasts three theatres built for live comedy, food vendors, private function rooms, and the rooftop bar, among other things.
Official sources also said that one of the theatres at the venue, Wally’s Room, was damaged in the blaze, and shows in that auditorium have been cancelled for the foreseeable future.
All other areas of Blackstock Market were unaffected by the fire, and remain open as usual.
