Get ready for a brand-new, cut-throat season of mystery, betrayal and suspense: on 1 October The Celebrity Traitors, produced by Studio Lambert, makes its grand return on BBC One and BBC iPlayer after last year’s triumphant first season. The first Celebrity series, which featured huge personalities such as Alan Carr, Celia Imrie and Nick Mohammed, was an unprecedented success: the finale alone generated 1.9 million live streams on BBC iPlayer, breaking the record for the highest live figures for any entertainment episode in the platform’s history.
As host Claudia Winkleman herself has stated, this year’s cast is “extraordinary”: twenty-one celebrities are ready to enter Ardross Castle, bringing drama and unexpected game mechanics. The line-up, dubbed by The Guardian as “one of the most high-profile casts ever assembled for a reality TV show”, includes Amol Rajan, Bella Ramsey, Hannah Fry, James Acaster, James Blunt, Jerry Hall, Joanne McNally, Joe Lycett, Julie Hesmondhalgh, King Kenny, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Maya Jama, Michael Sheen, Miranda Hart, Myha’la, Richard E. Grant, Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan, Ross Kemp, Sebastian Croft and Sharon Rooney.
What is the game about?
The Traitors is a psychological reality competition built on trust, deception, and strategy. As soon as the guests enter the castle, host Claudia Winkleman secretly selects a small group of contestants to be the “Traitors”, and the remaining players become the “Faithful”. While the Faithful do not know who anyone is, the Traitors know each other’s identities and work together to eliminate the Faithful one by one.
Each night, the Traitors meet in secret in the castle’s turret to “kill” a Faithful, removing them from the competition. During the day, all contestants take part in various challenges to collect as much money as they can. After each mission, all players reunite at the iconic round table to vote out the player they suspect to be a Traitor.
The end goal creates intense tension: if the Faithful manage to banish all the Traitors by the end of the final episode, the remaining Faithful split the cash prize. However, if even a single Traitor remains undetected until the very end, that Traitor steals the entire cash prize.
Don’t miss the grand premiere on 1 October at 8:00 pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. With high-profile celebrities, secret alliances, and intense psychological games, this season promises non-stop suspense as everyone struggles to answer one question: who can you really trust?
