KURIOS by Cirque du Soleil Returns to London

Cirque du Soleil is making its grand return to London in 2027 with one of its most critically acclaimed productions: KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities. The stage will be set at the iconic Royal Albert Hall, where performances will run from 13 January to 28 February 2027. This London run marks the 30th year of the Canadian company performing at the historic venue, as well as the last European stop for the show.

KURIOS first arrived in the British capital in 2023, where it launched its European tour. During its residency, some of the nation’s most influential outlets praised the show, with The Guardian hailing it as “a gasp-inducing steampunk celebration of virtuosity”, and The Standard highlighting its “new earthier vibe”.

The production premièred in Montreal in 2014, taking inspiration from the 19th-century Industrial Revolution. Set inside the eccentric cabinet of curiosities of a late 19th-century inventor known as The Seeker, the narrative explores a realm where imagination alters reality. Filled with jaw-dropping acts and an extraordinary live soundtrack, the show promises to leave spectators wondering whether what they are witnessing is real. Russian cradle, acro net and banquine are just some of the many acts that will leave the audience in awe.

Some fun facts about KURIOS

– KURIOS is the company’s 35th production.

– More than one hundred costumes were created to dress the artists in the show.

– All the performers have to apply their own make-up before every show, which can take from 40 minutes to two hours.

– The production features 464 props and pieces in total, making it the company’s most detailed production.

– The giant mechanical hand that appears during the contortion acts weighs 750 pounds (340 kilos) and measures 4.5 x 2 metres. It is operated by two artists using a pedal and gears.

– During the opening of the Chaos Synchro 1900 act, Mr Microcosmos’ costume extends to 62 ft (18.8 metres) in the form of a train for the various performers to pass through.

– KURIOS has performed more than 3,000 shows to date.

– Over 65 trucks are required to transport the set and equipment.
