So far, the 2026 tour has received widespread acclaim from the British media, with critics praising its energy, heart and stellar performances. Major outlets have applauded the production, most notably The Times, which hailed the show as “a glorious revival” that captivates audiences of all generations.

The plot

In 1933 New York, in the grip of the Great Depression, 11-year-old Annie lives in a harsh orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Despite her hard life, the little girl still hopes that one day she and her parents will finally be reunited. After an initial escape attempt is foiled, she manages to flee by hiding in a laundry truck. She meets a friendly stray dog, that she names Sandy, and the residents of a shantytown, but the police bring her back to the orphanage.

Her fate changes when Grace Farrell chooses her to spend Christmas at the mansion of billionaire Oliver Warbucks. He grows fond of Annie and, after learning more about her story, offers a $50,000 reward to find her parents. Rooster, Miss Hannigan’s brother, and his girlfriend Lily plan to pass themselves off as her parents to claim the money. Warbucks takes Annie to Washington, where she meets President Roosevelt. However, the FBI steps in and reveals the truth: her real parents died years ago. With the villains finally exposed, Warbucks officially adopts Annie, bringing a happy ending and new hope to all the orphans.
