The operation began in June 2024 when officers visited Onslow Road for arrest attempts on behalf of the City of London Police. A nearby flat emitted an overwhelming cannabis smell, leading to a knock on the door where Sergiu Man, 33, answered.

What led police to the drugs discovery?

Officers cautioned and arrested Man on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs. Inside the property, they found Sebastian Forgaciu, 35, who was also arrested. The search revealed substantial quantities of pink cocaine, amphetamine, cannabis, magic mushrooms and ecstasy tablets, along with an industrial tablet press machine and digital scales.

According to Birkenhead News, over 5kg of MDMA was seized, sufficient to produce 40,000 ecstasy tablets with a street value between £200,000 and £400,000, as estimated by experts.

What were the court outcomes for the men?

Both defendants stood trial and were found guilty of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. They received 10-year sentences on each count, to run concurrently, as reported by Birkenhead News.

How did the arrests unfold in detail?

Police initially attended the address for enquiries on a wanted male. The cannabis aroma from the flat triggered the immediate search, leading to the arrests of Man and Forgaciu inside the property, according to verified reports.

What happens next in this case?

No further appeals or additional charges have been reported. The sentences reflect efforts to combat drug supply networks in Merseyside, with the operation highlighting proactive policing based on community intelligence and direct observations.

Merseyside Police continue targeted operations against Class A drug distribution in the region.
